The rehearsals for "The Laramie Project" are going extremely well, and everyone in the cast in very excited about the play. We can't wait to show it to you! By the way, have you seen our Facebook event page? Click here, and get all the information you need about the performances. Here are some pictures from rehearsals, taken by myself - Jean-François. Not the best quality, but we'll have more soon! (And it's also my first attempt at using Adobe Lightroom, so please be kind...). Click to enlarge. And here's another photo taken by our director, Amy M. Cummings. This is such a sad story. It has been brought to my attention by Shawna Blackwood, member of the Collective.
Click here to read the story. It is about hatred, about the death of a teenager, and about Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church. Fred Phelps was part of the events that are told in "The Laramie Project". He's actually a character in the play. This story was published a few days following Mr. Phelps' death, and whatever you might feel about that, let's not forget that hatred is everywhere. Mr. Phelps was only part of it, only part of the problem. Hatred is still there, and it's much closer than we might think. To quote the author of the article: "[...] my friend was murdered by people he thought were his friends." Hi. Let me introduce myself.
My name is Jean-François. I will be updating this blog on a regular basis - as regularly as I can, that is - for The Motley Collective. I got into the Collective by auditioning for The Rocky Horror Picture Show in June 2013. I was nervous, I was scared, but then I got the role of a lifetime, Riff Raff, and my life was changed. It might seem corny, but yeah, my life changed, in many ways. The Motley Collective is a bunch of individuals so dedicated to their art, so passionate, so in love with what they do. And they're the greatest. I had so much fun on Rocky Horror, and we became this huge, loving family. I hope you will be part of this journey to. I will keep you updated on what we do, as The Laramie Project takes shape over the next weeks, and hopefully you will join us in this amazing adventure, in one way or another. Here's a picture of our director, Amy Cummings, always quite the busy bee. She's the heart and soul of this company. Just wait and see the great ideas she has for this new production. You'll be amazed! See you soon! |
